Relic Box SystemThe Relic Box is a separate progression inventory used exclusively for Relics. Relics provide permanent character progression by allowing you to build around offensive, defensive, utility, or hybrid effects. Relics do not use normal equipment slots. Instead, they are placed into unlocked Relic Box slots, where their effects become active.
In Short
Unlock Relic Box slots through progression, collect Relics from content, place them into the box, and combine their effects to shape your build. 
1. Unlock Slots
Progress through major content to permanently unlock Relic Box slots.
2. Find Relics
Obtain Relics from quests, bosses, elite creatures, events, and other content.
3. Place Relics
Put Relics into unlocked Relic Box slots to activate their effects.
4. Build Around Them
Swap and combine Relics to create a setup that fits your character.
How the Relic Box WorksThe Relic Box has its own slots and is separate from your normal equipment and backpacks. A Relic only provides its effect while it is placed inside an unlocked Relic Box slot.
Relic Box Only
Relics must be placed inside the Relic Box for their effects to become active.
No Equipment Slot Required
Relics do not replace your helmet, armor, weapon, ring, amulet, or other normal equipment.
No Duplicate Stacking
Multiple copies of the same Relic cannot be used to stack the same effect.
Freely Adjustable
Relics can be swapped and rearranged to change your setup.
Important
Owning a Relic is not enough. Its effect is active only while that Relic occupies one of your unlocked Relic Box slots. Unlocking Relic SlotsCharacters begin with no available Relic Box slots. Permanent Unlocks
Once a Relic Box slot has been unlocked, that slot remains available permanently. It is not lost on death and does not need to be unlocked again. Obtaining RelicsRelics are progression rewards and rare drops found throughout Valantis. Different Relics can come from different types of content, so building a collection requires playing across several systems.
Quest Rewards
Some Relics are earned from specific quest lines and progression rewards.
Elite Creatures
Dangerous creatures and Elite Creatures may drop Relics.
Bosses and Events
Rare bosses and world events may reward exclusive Relics.
Rare Collections
Some Relics are intended to be difficult, long term collection goals.
Browse available Relics and their effects in the Item Library. Using Relics and Building a SetupEvery unlocked slot lets you activate one additional Relic. As more slots are unlocked, you can combine more effects and create increasingly specialized builds.
Offensive
Use Relics that improve damage or hunting efficiency.
Defensive
Use Relics that improve survivability and sustain.
Utility
Use Relics that improve movement, regeneration, or other utility effects.
Hybrid
Combine different Relic types instead of focusing on a single role.
More Slots, More Options
Unlocking another slot does not strengthen your existing Relics directly. It gives you room to activate one more Relic and combine another effect with your setup. Open the Relic Box
Access it from the inventory button located above your backpack.
Place a Relic
Move a Relic into an unlocked slot to activate its effect.
Change Your Setup
Remove, swap, or rearrange Relics whenever you want to adjust your build.
New Slots Appear Automatically
Newly unlocked Relic Box slots become available automatically.
